Wild Dagga 5%: alkaloid extract in a 10 ml bottle
Alkaloid extracts are sold as TPA extracts, short for Total Purified Alkaloids. Extraction isolates the alkaloids from the herb, and they are then dissolved in ethanol and water. No sugar, flavouring or plant residue is added. The figure on the label, 5% here, gives the share of alkaloids in the extract. That is lower than the 20% St John's wort extract from the same range, so you measure it out differently.
Wild Dagga is the trade name for Leonotis, a genus in the mint family with its roots in Africa. These plants carry square stems, leaves set in opposite pairs and whorls of orange, felted tubular flowers at intervals up the stem, which is where names such as lion's ear and lion's tail come from. The word dagga comes from southern Africa, yet botanically the plant has nothing to do with cannabis: its relatives are mint and sage. Check the botanical name if you have a preference. Wild Dagga in the trade usually refers to Leonotis leonurus, while this item lists Leonotis nepetifolia, the related species also sold as Klip Dagga. If you are unsure which of the two you want, ask us before ordering.

The bottle
The TPA range comes in white 10 ml bottles with a wood-look cap holding a pipette, so the liquid can be measured drop by drop. The label carries the line 10 ML, 200+ DROPS. Keep the bottle upright, cool and dark, and out of reach of children. The base contains alcohol, so close the cap firmly after use.
Points to note
This extract is meant for adults of 18 and over and not for use during pregnancy or breastfeeding. If you take medication, or hesitate for any other reason, talk to your doctor first. Avalon Magic Plants makes no statements about medicinal effects: this is not a medicine and it replaces no treatment.
Avalon Magic Plants also stocks Leonotis as dried herb, such as Klip Dagga in 50 gram bags, and as seed to grow your own. From the same TPA range you will find St John's wort 20%, valerian with GABA, wild lettuce and white water lily. Every order leaves discreetly packed.
