The ideal balance: medium grow kits of 1200cc

The 1200cc medium grow kits form the heart of our range. These kits yield 500 to 800 grams of fresh mushrooms over multiple flushes, equivalent to 50 to 80 grams dried. That's enough for multiple experiences without having to manage a large stock immediately. Our FreshMushrooms kits contain substrate fully colonized with 100% mycelium. No grain mixtures, no fillers, just pure mycelium ready to fruit.

Why FreshMushrooms are twice as potent

Independent analyses show that FreshMushrooms contain on average twice as much psilocin as other brands. This is due to the 100% mycelium substrate and specific cultivation procedures used by our certified producers. The mushrooms don't have hollow stems but are solid and turn intensely blue when touched, a sign of high psilocin concentration. This blue discoloration occurs through oxidation of psilocin when exposed to oxygen.

Available strains from mild to intense

Each Psilocybe cubensis strain has unique characteristics in terms of growth, appearance and effects. For beginners, Golden Teacher and B+ are the safest choices. Golden Teacher is known for fast colonization and predictable, introspective effects. B+ is famous for its resilience and large yields, even under less optimal conditions.

Mexican and Mazatapec are strains with rich history. Mazatapec originates from the region where the Mazatec people have used mushrooms in spiritual ceremonies for centuries. This strain is valued for its spiritual qualities without overwhelming intensity.

Experienced users often choose McKennaii, named after ethnobotanist Terence McKenna. This relatively young strain is known for more intense visual and mental effects. Cambodian and Thai are fast growers from Southeast Asia, popular for their energetic character.

Growing process without watering

The unique aspect of our 100% mycelium kits is that you don't need to water during the growing process. The substrate contains exactly the right amount of moisture. Remove the lid, place the kit in the provided filter bag with microperforation facing up and close with the paperclip. Place the kit in a bright spot without direct sunlight at 20-25°C. Harvesting at the right moment

Timing is crucial. Harvest when the veils under the caps just begin to tear but before spores drop. At this moment psilocybin concentration is maximum. Gently pull the mushrooms with a twisting motion from the substrate. After harvest you can reactivate the kit with the cold shock method: fill with clean tap water, let rest for twelve hours and drain excess water. This process yields three to four additional flushes.

Medium versus mini and XL

The 600cc mini kits are ideal for testing strains or with limited space, yielding 200-300 grams fresh. The 2100cc XL kits yield 700 to 1500 grams fresh and are more economical per gram, but require more space and planning for storage. The 1200cc medium kits offer the golden middle ground for most growers.

Storage and drying

Fresh mushrooms have limited shelf life. Store them maximum one week in the refrigerator in a paper bag. For longer preservation, dry them with a food dehydrator or in a well-ventilated room. Dried mushrooms contain approximately 10% of the original weight and keep for months in an airtight container in a dark, cool place.

In the Netherlands, growing mushrooms for personal use is legal, but selling has been prohibited since December 2008. Within the EU, legislation varies by country.
