Herb Extracts
Herb extracts contain the concentrated active compounds of plants. From relaxing to stimulating, from aphrodisiac to dream enhancer: each extract has its own profile. The concentration ratio (for example 10:1 or 50X) indicates how many times stronger the extract is compared to the original herb. This means you need less for the same effect.

Herb extracts: concentrated plant power
A herb extract is a concentrated form of the active compounds from a plant. Through extraction, the active constituents are separated from the plant material and brought together in a compact, potent form. The result is a product that works faster and stronger than loose herbs, while you only need a fraction of the amount.
Concentration ratios explained
With herb extracts, you often see designations like 10:1, 25X or 50X. These ratios indicate the concentration factor. A 10:1 extract means that 10 grams of the original herb has been reduced to 1 gram of extract. A 50X extract is therefore fifty times stronger than the same amount of unprocessed herb. Always start with a low dose, especially with extracts that have a high concentration factor.
Types of extracts and their applications
The Avalon Magic Plants range includes extracts with diverse properties. Relaxing extracts such as Passionflower (Passiflora incarnata), Wild Lettuce (Lactuca virosa) and Damiana (Turnera diffusa) are traditionally used to promote calm. Dream herbs like Calea Zacatechichi and Entada Rheedii (African Dream Herb) are known for their effect on vivid and lucid dreams. Aphrodisiacs such as Muira Puama and Red Kwao Krua (Butea superba) have been used for centuries to support libido. Additionally, there are energising extracts like Yerba Mate and Ginseng, and mood enhancers like Blue Lotus (Nymphaea caerulea) and Sacred Lotus (Nelumbo nucifera).
Methods of use
Most extracts are available as fine powder. You can dissolve them in warm water for a herbal tea, mix them with honey, or put them in capsules for easy consumption. Some extracts are also suitable for smoking or vaporising. Always read the product information for the recommended preparation method and dosage of the specific extract you are using.
Safe use of herb extracts
Herb extracts contain concentrated active compounds that may interact with medications or certain health conditions. Do not use extracts during pregnancy or breastfeeding without medical advice. Do not combine extracts with alcohol, MAO inhibitors or other psychoactive substances unless you are certain it is safe. When in doubt, consult a doctor or pharmacist. Always start with the lowest recommended dose to see how your body responds.
