Roach is the word for the last stretch of a joint, and it is also the word for a cockroach. This clip takes the pun literally: hanging under the metal clamp is a block of clear resin with an insect cast inside. You can look straight through it and see the legs and wings from the side.

The resin is the glow-in-the-dark kind. Leave the block under a lamp or in daylight for a while and it gives off a soft glow once the room goes dark, fading slowly as the evening goes on. Mostly that is a joke, but there is a practical side to it: a clip that glows is one you can put down outside at night or in a dark room without losing track of it. The clamp itself is the familiar toothed type, opened with a pinch and staying shut on its own afterwards.

How to use it

Pinch the clamp open, slide a few millimetres of the end between the jaws and release. Hold the clip by the metal and keep the resin block away from the ember, since resin does not cope well with heat and will visibly deform.

Cleaning and storage

Let the clip cool down after use. Clean the jaws with a small brush or a cotton bud dipped in alcohol. Keep alcohol and abrasives away from the resin itself, as both leave it dull; a damp cloth and a dry wipe afterwards is all it needs. Storing the clip out of direct sunlight keeps the resin clear.
