Flamez lighter: a disposable with a flint wheel
Flamez has been making smoking accessories since 2005 and built its name on gear that simply does the job. This lighter belongs in that line-up. It is a Unilite, the familiar disposable in the standard size that fits any coat pocket or tobacco tin. The Flamez logo is printed on the side in red and white, and the model is supplied in yellow or black.
Ignition runs on a flint wheel. Push the wheel down with your thumb, a spark jumps across and the gas valve opens. That is a simpler mechanism than the click systems built around a piezo element, and simpler here means harder to break: there is no electronic part waiting to fail. The fuel sits visible in the lower half of the body, so a glance tells you how much is left. Refilling is not an option; this type lasts until the gas runs out.
Handling a lighter safely
Keep the lighter away from sources of heat and do not leave it in the sun or in a car that is baking, since gas expands as it warms. Do not hold the flame longer than you need to, because the metal hood gets hot. Never puncture the body and never throw it into a fire, not even when empty. Store lighters out of reach of children. Once it is spent, hand it in with chemical waste rather than dropping it in with household rubbish, as a trace of gas always stays behind.
