Roach clip with a glass dice
The last stretch of a joint is usually the awkward part: too short to hold, too hot to enjoy. A roach clip takes care of that. The toothed jaws grip the paper and you hold the clip instead, which keeps your fingertips clean, puts some distance between you and the ember, and means you do not have to give up on the final draws.
This version carries a white glass dice with black dots on the head of the clamp. Glass stays cool longer than bare metal and gives your fingers something solid to pinch, where a plain clip quickly turns warm and slippery. The clamp runs on a spring: squeeze it open, let go, and it holds by itself. The dice is fixed to the clip, so it is decoration rather than something to roll with.
Using and cleaning it
Squeeze the clip open, slide a few millimetres of the end between the jaws and release. If the grip feels loose, clamp a little closer to the middle. Let the clip cool down before it goes back in your pocket, because the jaws hold on to heat for a while. Residue comes off with a small brush or a cotton bud dipped in alcohol; rinse the glass with water afterwards and dry it properly, so the dice stays clear instead of going dull and the spring keeps moving freely.
