Satya Jasmine: sweet floral incense from India

Satya still makes incense the traditional way. A paste of resin, sandalwood powder and herbs is rolled around a bamboo stick by hand and left to dry slowly. Thanks to this masala method, the scent comes from the ingredients themselves rather than from a layer of perfume added afterwards. In this Jasmine variety, the base is blended with jasmine blossom, giving a sweet floral scent that stays pleasantly soft.

Jasmine has long been burned during meditation and yoga, but it works just as well as a simple room scent: one stick is enough to fill a living room with a warm, lightly sweet fragrance. Each box holds 15 grams, which comes down to roughly 12 to 15 sticks. A stick burns for about 30 to 40 minutes and the scent lingers for hours afterwards.

How to burn incense sticks

Light the tip and let the flame catch for a few seconds, then blow it out so the stick glows and releases a thin ribbon of smoke. Place it in an incense holder or a small pot of sand, on a surface that can handle falling ash. Keep the room slightly ventilated and never leave a burning stick unattended.
