Satya Natural: fresh herbal incense from India
Natural is one of the calmer scents in the Satya range. Where Nag Champa is mainly sweet and full, this one carries a fresher, greener layer on top. The base is still familiar: sandalwood powder, resins and herbs, rounded off with floral and herbal fragrance oils. Anyone who knows Super Hit will recognise the sweet, woody undertone straight away, only here it is less openly sweet.
The sticks are rolled by hand in India. A scented paste is turned around a bamboo stick and then dried slowly, a process known as the masala method. The difference with dipped incense shows halfway through the burn: the scent does not fade or turn, because it comes from the blend itself rather than from a layer of perfume on the outside. A box holds 15 grams, which works out at roughly 12 to 15 sticks, and a stick burns for about 30 to 45 minutes. How quickly it goes depends on the airflow in the room, since an open window will finish a stick sooner.
Where this scent works well
Natural is fresh enough for daytime use and stays mild enough not to hang around the house as a heavy cloud. Light the tip, let the flame catch for a couple of seconds and blow it out; the stick keeps glowing and gives off a thin ribbon of smoke. Always use a holder or a small pot of sand on a surface that can handle ash, and never leave a burning stick alone in the room. Keep the box closed and dry and the scent will hold for months.
