Hair brush stash: storage space inside the handle

At first glance this is a perfectly ordinary round hair brush, the kind you reach for when blow-drying. Plastic body, nylon pins all the way around, a handle with a small loop at the end so it can hang on a hook. The difference sits on the inside: the handle is hollow and doubles as a storage compartment.

The idea is known as a diversion stash, and it works precisely because there is nothing unusual to notice. A brush on a bathroom shelf, in a wash bag or at the bottom of a weekend bag gets no second look, while small things you would rather not leave lying around stay tucked away. A spare key, some cash, a USB stick, or jewellery you do not want rolling loose in a bag while travelling.

What you get

The brush ships as it comes: the colour varies from one unit to the next and cannot be selected. Keep in mind that the compartment is limited to the space inside the handle, so it suits small, dry items. Do not store anything damp in it, and check that the compartment is properly closed before you head out, especially if the brush goes into a packed bag. Beyond that, the brush still works as a brush; the pins are firmly set into the body.
