Kanna Premium extract: the strongest in the Global Herbs range
The tube says it plainly: extreme strong, with the claim underneath that this is the world's strongest kanna extract. Those are the maker's words, Global Herbs of Helmond in the Netherlands, and what they really tell you is where this product sits in their own line. Below Premium Extreme Strong come Krystal Ultimate, Full Spectrum and Happy Calming, each with its own colour on the label. Walk the range from the bottom up and this is where it ends.
The raw material is Sceletium tortuosum, known in South Africa for centuries as kanna or kougoed. Traditionally the leaf was bruised, fermented and dried, then chewed, taken as snuff or brewed as tea. A powdered extract behaves differently: you are dealing with a fraction of the quantity you would take of plant material. Do not compare strength between brands on the strength of a name, because the labelling varies wildly. One supplier quotes a ratio, the next an alkaloid percentage, and without an analysis those numbers say little.
Storage and responsible handling
Store the tube closed, dry and dark, out of reach of children. Weigh with a fine scale, start low and wait before changing anything. Do not combine kanna with antidepressants such as SSRIs or MAOIs without talking to your doctor, avoid it during pregnancy or breastfeeding, and keep it away from driving. What you do with this product remains your own responsibility.
