Straight acrylic bong of 51 cm
The acrylic bong medium is a clean tube model with no bulb at the bottom: one straight cylinder of 51 cm tall and around 5 cm wide, the same width from top to bottom. The metal chillum enters at an angle near the base, which is where the water sits. The acrylic is translucent and coloured, so you can follow the water level and the smoke as it fills the tube.
You choose the colour at checkout. Green, blue and red are the versions currently on offer. Whichever one you pick, the rest is identical: same height, same black base, same chillum.
Base and chillum
The bong stands on a wide, round black foot. That foot is a separate part and screws off, so the bong splits into two pieces and packs down smaller in a bag. The chillum pulls out of its rubber grommet as well, and the bowl unscrews from the stem. Cleaning is straightforward: rinse the loose parts in lukewarm water with a drop of washing up liquid and run a bottle brush through the tube. Leave the boiling water out of it, because acrylic can warp from that kind of heat.
Why acrylic
A glass bong of this length is heavy and unforgiving when it tips over. Acrylic weighs far less and gives instead of shattering, which suits a bong that gets passed around or taken along. The trade off is hardness: acrylic scratches sooner than glass, so it is better kept apart from keys and lighters in a bag. At 51 cm this size sits between the small bongs of around 20 cm and the really tall models, high enough for a decent chamber of smoke while still easy to hold.
At Avalon Magic Plants you will find more acrylic bongs, such as the Acrylic Bong Yellow with a bubble base and the Acrylic Bong All-Over-Print with its graffiti artwork, next to glass models with a percolator or ice notches.
