Echinacea purpurea 1:1 extract: purple coneflower from the prairie
Purple coneflower grows wild on the prairies and in the open woodland of eastern North America. It is easy to spot: pink to purple ray petals around a firm, spiky centre, which is where the Latin name comes from, since echinos is Greek for hedgehog. Indigenous peoples of the Great Plains worked with the genus Echinacea long before European herbalists took an interest, and over the twentieth century the plant became a fixture in herb cabinets on this side of the Atlantic too.
This bottle holds the plant in liquid, concentrated form. The 1:1 label refers to the ratio the tincture was made at: one part plant material per part of finished product. The taste is herbal and slightly earthy, with the faint tingle on the tongue that echinacea is known for. Use and storage
Follow the instructions on the label and shake the bottle before use. Keep the tincture cool, dry and dark, out of reach of young children.
