Mondotub — a closed environment for consistent growing results
Anyone who grows mushrooms knows that the most critical factor is not the substrate itself but the environment surrounding it. Airflow, humidity and temperature largely determine whether a growing round succeeds or fails. Budget solutions leak from every angle, require constant manual misting and offer little protection against mould spores and bacteria. The Mondotub takes a different approach.
The growing container is made from transparent acrylic and fully enclosed, apart from the filtration system. Those filters are the core of the product. They allow oxygen in while keeping contaminants out, so the mycelium can colonise and form fruiting bodies in a clean, stable atmosphere. The 26x26x33 cm dimensions make the tub more compact than a shotgun fruiting chamber yet large enough for a serious growing round.
The set comes with 24 filter patches, comfortably enough for multiple consecutive growing rounds. After each use you replace the patches and start again without the base construction ageing. The acrylic is durable, easy to clean with alcohol and resistant to the humid conditions mushroom cultivation requires.
The Mondotub works well with bulk substrate tubs and colonised grain bags. Place the colonised substrate inside, seal the tub and let the system do the work. Misting is needed less frequently than with open systems because the enclosed design limits moisture loss. That also makes the Mondotub suitable for growers who cannot check in every day.
