Ecuador Mini grow kit 600 cc by Freshmushrooms
This kit is the small version of the Freshmushrooms 100 percent mycelium kit. The box holds 600 cc of substrate that was fully colonised with mycelium in the lab, with no fillers. The mini format exists so you can try a strain out or run a few side by side without committing to a large kit. By our own figures a 600 cc mini kit yields an average of 100 to 150 grams of fresh mushrooms across multiple flushes. The box contains the kit, the grow bag with micro perforation and a paperclip, and nothing else is needed.
Ecuador is a variety of Psilocybe cubensis that originally comes from the higher ground of Ecuador. Its fruiting bodies are known for thick, sturdy stems and broad caps in pale yellowish to caramel brown shades. Because the strain comes from a cooler mountain region it is often described as less fussy about its conditions, though do not count on that sparing any kit from trouble: hygiene remains the deciding factor.
Setting up the kit
- Take the lid off, rinse it under the tap and keep it, because you will need it again later.
- Place the kit without its lid in the supplied bag, micro perforation facing up, and slide the opening of the bag underneath the bottom.
- Put the kit somewhere bright but out of direct sunlight, at 18 to 28 degrees Celsius. Around 23 degrees works best.
- Once the mushrooms push against the bag, stand the bag upright. Do not spray: the kit handles its own moisture. Leave the bag slightly open while they grow so moisture can escape.

Harvesting and the next flush
Harvest before the first spores drop, so just as the veils under the caps are about to tear open. After that you can restart the kit: fill it with clean tap water, put the lid back on and leave it for twelve hours. Pour the excess water out of one corner and start again from step 1. In practice that gives you three to five flushes. Wash your hands before touching the kit and work in a clean room, because moulds and bacteria are the main reason a kit fails.
