Honey Bee Extractor: the small gas extractor from BuzzNN
The Honey Bee is a short plastic tube, closed at one end and carrying a coarse screw thread at the other. A black cap with a pattern of small holes screws onto it, and a round filter paper sits behind that cap so no plant material comes through. An oval label on the tube shows a cartoon bee, the BuzzNN brand with the web address buzznn.ca and the claim that this is the original Honey Bee eXtractor, patents pending and made in Canada. The tubes are supplied in assorted colours, with yellow, green, blue and two shades of red in circulation, so the colour you receive is not fixed.
An extractor of this type works with a liquefied extraction gas that you run through the filled tube, with no heat source involved. The gas itself is not included. According to the supplier the material is a plastic that resists chemicals and is expressly not PVC, which is the detail that matters in this kind of equipment. The format is modest: the Honey Bee fits in a coat pocket, while the Queen Bee from the same range holds roughly three times as much.
Working safely with extraction gas
This is the part there is no way around. Extraction gases are extremely flammable and their vapours are heavier than air, so they linger low to the ground. The label on the Honey Bee carries a warning for good reason: stay at least 200 feet, around 60 metres, away from sparks, open flame, pilot lights and any other source of heat. Work outdoors or in a well ventilated space, do not switch appliances or lights on while you are busy, and read the instructions that come with the extractor before you start. Equipment like this is used at your own responsibility, and the rules around using one differ from country to country.
Afterwards
Take the cap off, dispose of the spent material and let every part air out completely in a ventilated spot before you store it. Then rinse the tube with warm water and a little washing up liquid and let it dry; abrasives leave scratches that hold residue. Store the extractor with the cap loose so nothing stays behind inside the tube.
In the same corner of the range
Avalon Magic Plants also stocks the Queen Bee extractor with its larger volume and the Conrok extraction kit from Black Leaf, a complete set in a case with extractor, butane gas and silicone accessories. Alongside those sit the 110 mm herb press, the stainless steel pollen press in S, M and L and the Hash Maker Pollinator. Your order leaves in discreet packaging.
