Magic Mushrooms test by Dope or Nope: spotting psilocybin through a colour reaction
This kit is made to check a sample for psilocybin. Nothing else is required: the pack contains a glass ampoule with reagent and a card showing the possible colours. Within a couple of minutes you can see if your sample reacts the way the card describes.
Reagent tests work through discolouration. The reagent reacts with the substance in your sample, and both the colour and the speed of the change say something about its content. The point is to make market adulteration visible, so you can see whether a sample holds something other than what it was sold as. Use a small sample, since the ratio to the reagent is set up for that. A reaction, by the way, tells you nothing about strength or quantity.
How to run the test
- Take the ampoule with the test reagent
- Break the ampoule and add a small sample
- Rotate the cap you just removed
- Place the cap back on the ampoule
- Compare the colour with the supplied table
What the result does and does not tell you
If you recognise a colour from the card, the sample probably holds (part of) the matching substance. That is no proof of purity and says nothing about how much active substance is present; something the test simply does not recognise may be in there as well. If no reaction occurs, or the colour differs, at least none of the substances in the table are involved, though what is actually present stays unknown. Dope or Nope neither condones nor condemns use, but recognises that banned substances get used regardless. There is no safe use of drugs, and you run this test at your own risk.
Safety and storage
The ampoule contains a strong acid. Keep the kit out of reach of children, avoid contact with eyes and skin, and rinse with plenty of water after contact. Store the test cool and dark, below 35 degrees, in its original packaging. Avalon Magic Plants also carries the Dope or Nope general test, crystal meth test, MDMA purity test and LSD test. All orders are shipped discreetly.
