Short papers by The Bulldog
The short size is the format most people learn to roll with: one leaf, a modest amount of tobacco or herb, done. Nothing needs folding over or tearing off, which is what happens when you only half fill a long paper. For a smaller cigarette this is simply the sensible size, and a single booklet lasts you more rolls than a king size one.
The paper comes from the same range as The Bulldog king size: hemp fibre with a gum line that only sticks once moistened. The red cover sets the short format apart from the blue king size, so you do not grab the wrong booklet out of your bag. Because a short leaf leaves little room, it rolls more comfortably with a thin filter tip, which keeps the end open and stops loose tobacco from coming through.
Rolling a short leaf
Spread the tobacco evenly along the length and leave a margin free on the gummed side. Roll outwards from the middle with both thumbs so the leaf stays taut. Moisten the gum line lightly: too much water stretches the paper and the seam closes untidily. A short paper is less forgiving than a king size, which is exactly why it teaches you to roll neatly.
About The Bulldog
The Bulldog started in 1975 at Oudezijds Voorburgwal 90 in Amsterdam. Founder Henk de Vries named the place after his own bulldog, and the dog's head now appears on papers, filter tips and other smoking gear. At Avalon Magic Plants you will also find the Bulldog king size papers, the brand's slim filter tips and papers by Mascotte, RAW and Greengo. Everything goes out in discreet packaging.
