MTT-500 Mini Table Top: 500 grams read to a tenth

The MTT-500 is the table top scale of the On Balance MTT series in a size that still fits a drawer. It is the little brother of the Table Top 1000 x 0.1 and weighs up to 500 grams in steps of 0.1 gram. Its stainless steel platform sits slightly raised and measures roughly 6.8 by 6.8 centimetres. The display is angled towards you and backlit, so there is no need to lean over the scale to read it. The housing itself comes to about 11 x 7 x 2 centimetres.

The clear cover is the cleverest part of this model. Closed, it shields the platform from dust and scratches; turned over, it serves as a weighing tray, which keeps powder or loose herbs off the platform itself. The tare button then removes the weight of that tray from the reading. Besides grams the MTT-500 weighs in three further units, and after a spell of inactivity it switches itself off to save the batteries. Those two AAA cells are supplied with the scale.

Keeping it accurate

Place the scale on a flat, solid surface, away from draughts and vibration. Wait for the figure to settle before you read it, and never press on the platform to straighten something out. Keep the platform clean and dry. Should the readings drift over time, calibrate with a proper calibration weight rather than a coin from the drawer.
