LS-600 Lite mini scale: 600 grams in 0.1 gram steps
Where the LS-100 reads to hundredths of a gram, the LS-600 is built for larger portions. Its load cell goes to 600 grams and reads in 0.1 gram steps, which covers herbs, coffee, seeds, baking ingredients and anything else where a tenth of a gram is precise enough. Both models sit in the same housing, so there is no new format to get used to.
That housing measures roughly 9.7 by 5.8 centimetres and is just under two centimetres thick; with batteries fitted it weighs around 73 grams. The weighing platform is about 5.9 by 5.2 centimetres. Click the lid off, turn it over and drop it on the scale and you have an extra tray. The display is backlit, so the figures stay readable in a dim room, and the function keys sit slightly raised so you find them by touch. Besides grams you can switch to ounces and carats among others, six weighing modes in total.
Weighing accurately
Set the scale on a flat, stable surface and let it settle on zero once switched on. Weighing in a dish or a bag? Press tare first so only the contents register. Spread the load across the platform rather than piling everything into one corner. Wipe the platform clean and dry after use and store the scale with the lid on, keeping dust and crumbs off the cell.
