RMM-100 RELOADR: 100 grams readable to 0.005 gram
The RMM-100 belongs to the RELOADR range by On Balance, a line aimed at reloaders. That explains the grain setting: the scale reads up to 100 grams in steps of 0.005 gram, which works out at roughly a tenth of a grain. Besides grams and grains it weighs in ounces and carats. The weighing platform is stainless steel and measures about 6.9 by 6.9 centimetres; the display is backlit, so you can read the value in poor light as well. The scale itself measures 11 x 7.7 x 2.4 centimetres and weighs 120 grams, which means it fits in a coat pocket or the top tray of a tool box.
A clear plastic cover goes over the platform. Closed, it keeps dust and scratches off the platform; turned over, it serves as a roomy powder pan, handy for loose powders and small parts. The box also holds a 100 gram calibration weight, two AAA batteries and a separate powder tray. Leave the scale untouched for three minutes and it switches itself off to save the batteries. According to the supplier the RMM-100 also features a stability indicator and built-in overload protection.

Keeping it accurate
Put the scale on a flat, stable surface and keep draughts and vibration out of the way: at steps of 0.005 gram an open window shows up straight away. After switching on, let the display settle on zero before you place anything on the platform. Recalibrate with the supplied weight whenever the scale has been moved or dropped. Clean the platform with a dry cloth rather than water, and store it with the cover on.
