Kratom Malaysia: shredded leaf from Malaysia
Mitragyna speciosa is a tree from the forests of Southeast Asia and a member of the coffee family. Left alone it reaches some fifteen metres and carries large oval leaves. Across the region that leaf is known as kratom and it has been picked and dried there for a very long time. The word Malaysia points to where this particular leaf comes from, the same country that gives its name to the better known Green Malay.
Most kratom is sold as a fine powder. This one is not: it is shredded leaf, so the structure of the leaf is still visible in the brittle, coarse pieces, which carry the herbal aroma kratom is known for. The difference is a practical one. Coarse material strains more easily than powder, and a 10 gram bag is small enough to try an origin without taking home a hundred grams of it.
How shredded leaf is used
Shredded kratom leaf is usually brewed as a tea: steep it in hot water and strain it afterwards. The leaf can also be eaten as it is, and in powder form kratom is often stirred through honey, custard or a milkshake to soften its herbal taste. For leaf, a portion of 3 to 5 grams is the figure usually mentioned. Keep it out of reach of children, and talk to your doctor first if you take medication, are pregnant or are breastfeeding.
Storage and shipping
Store the leaf dry, dark and properly sealed, ideally in the original bag or an airtight jar. Moisture is the main enemy of any dried plant material: it makes the leaf limp and shortens its life. Rules around kratom differ from country to country, so check the legal status at your destination yourself; at checkout you will see whether we can send your order. If you want to line several types up against each other, Avalon Magic Plants also stocks Kratom Thai leaves in 10 grams, Borneo Green, Borneo Red, Green Malay and Maeng Da Super Green, plus Kratom Resin Bali as a resin extract. Every order leaves our warehouse discreetly packed.
